noctis lucis caelum, small analysis of his personality & growth.
in the opening chapters of the game, we meet a young prince indulged in the luxuries of his royal status. he seemed to shirk away from the weight of responsibilities, presenting an image of idleness and a steadfast refusal to engage in anything that hinted at accountability. while others might have hastily labelled him lazy, beneath this facade laid a much deeper struggle—a battle with a lack of self - esteem.
the death of his father, king regis, was something he had long known, a looming inevitability. however, when the moment finally arrived and the crown was thrust upon him, the prince was adrift in a sea of uncertainty. hesitant to embrace leadership and sceptical of his role as the chosen king, he grappled with the shadows of self - doubt even as he gathered the royal weapons.
his actions, always borne out of obligation rather than genuine desire, were a product of the comfort he found in his princely role.
then, the harsh realities of life started to hit him like a sudden storm: luna's death, ignis losing his eyesight, gladius threatening the bonds of friendship and brotherhood. and it took the stripping away of his powers, something he once viewed as mere playthings rather than substantial responsibilities for the kingdom, that forced him to no longer be propelled by infantile revenge and selfish desires, but to act for the world's greater good instead.
this marked a pivotal moment in his story, a turning point where he chose to grow up, embracing the responsibilities and challenges that leadership entailed. the comforts of his prince role, once a sanctuary, faded away as he ventured beyond, ready to face the world with newfound purpose and maturity.
and so, the spoiled prince became a king, not by birthright alone but through the crucible of trials that shaped his character and destiny.

Regis Fic Recs
For my next installment of fic rec lists from my works (since I don't have anything new to post and won't for a little while longer), I'm turning to our revered Regis Lucis Caelum! I have 11 fics in which Regis makes an appearance, but only 9 of those in which he plays a significant role, and those are what I'm focusing on for this list.
Regis POV
Starting with the two fics in which Regis is the POV character!
"Heartbroken" -- The kings of yore tell Regis about his son's destiny.
"Hidden in Scars" -- Soul sickness happens when two soulmates have been separated from each other for too long. But Noctis can’t possibly have soul sickness, because he doesn’t have a soulmate. Does he? (This one actually has multiple POVs, including Regis.)
Regis-centric Shorts
Most of the rest are either Ignis or Noctis POV. Most of these feature a very young Noctis (and often Ignis) and Noct's childhood relationship with his father.
"Not the Way You Play the Game" -- It's Ignis' first day in the Citadel…. and Noct's governess needed the day off. Cor is assigned to watch them both.
"A Blossom Grown for You" -- Young Ignis notices that Noctis is feeling poorly -- and King Regis's frequent absences only seem to make it worse. (Familial hanahaki!)
"Constants" -- There are three constants in Noct’s short life. First, his mom and dad are always there for him when he needs them. He doesn’t have to question. Second, when they can’t be near (they are Important and Busy), he has his nursemaid. Third, his Uncle Ardyn is really, really strange.
"King" -- It’s time for the King to visit the nursery, and Ignis doesn’t know whether or not he’ll get there.
"Taming the Moon" -- Ignis has come to the Citadel to begin his work for the Crown, and to be introduced to Prince Noctis. What he finds is a surprise. He knows how to be chamberlain to a boy. How can he be chamberlain to a cat?
"Crown" -- Regis visits the nursery.
And of course, finally, Thirst -- in which Regis is a very powerful and very ancient vampire, with all the powers thereof.
"Thirst" -- Noctis is a vampire, and Prompto is a vampire hunter's son… but they can still be friends, right?

In Nox verse, do you think Regis and the rest would be quicker to realise that Ardyn is a Lucis Caelum if it was female Ardyn verse? After all if Sola already resembles Ardyn strongly when he's a male, it might be more pronounced for female version.
@secret-engima
*grins*
Well, the resemblance between Ardyn and Sola that Sola picks up on is mostly the coloring. That same red-violet hair - which is downright rare - those same sky-blue eyes. From there, Sola notes the other familial features, features that she doesn't have or are softer or slimmer or more feminine, features that she's seen in the Hall of Kings in so many portraits.
Noctis is too young yet to really know about bastards and politics. Too enamoured with his new older brother and uncle. Still coming to terms with the attack, even if the injuries don't linger.
Regis, Cor, and Clarus are blinded by their perception of Ardyn. To them, Ardyn is Niflheim's Chancellor first, Nox's uncle second. They see the similar coloring to Sola, of course, they'd have to be literally blind to miss that. But that shade of red hair isn't unique for all that it's uncommon. Aulea had brown hair, but her grandfather had that shade of red and it's popped up in other families of Lucis' nobility.
(It's been two thousand years since Ardyn and Somnus' time. One of Somnus' children inherited Ardyn's red hair, and it's had over a hundred generations to spread throughout Lucis' population.)
It's not been said since Aulea's death, but underneath her coloring, Sola looks very much like her mother. That Sola still has Lucis Caelum features is due to Aulea (and many other Lucian nobles) having Lucis Caelum blood from a distant branch LC ancestor.
So a female Ardyn? With softer, feminine features?
Before Ardyn uses her magic, everyone, including Sola, assumes Ardyn is Aulea's relative.

Does Regis know that untrained magic can kill the user? Because if he does, well, it kind of makes the Galahdians justified in being so angry with him.
Like, he knows that magic kills if not trained but still has a fuck-ton of one night stands. And he apparently he didn't use condoms, or keep track of their names or even leave them a number to contact him if something like this happened. And sure, it might be that Regis never thought he would have a bastard, but try telling that to Nyx and his family. Thoughtless mistakes are not exactly an improvement on deliberately endangering someone, when there are lives on the line.
tbf to him he does use condoms but they aren't exactly 100% effective
he also assumes that since his entire family has such problems having kids there's some sort of magic based fertility issues so he genuniely doesn't think about the fact that he might have kids out there which is. not great, but idk i can see his though process
i can also see him assuming that if one of his partner's had a kid they thought was his they'd probably contact him? he doesn't exactly hide that he's the prince and it's pretty obvious where he is and again, assumption is not great but he does have a point
as for the other part, however...
he doesn't not know
the fact is, regis is well aware that magic is dangerous. after all more kings of lucis have been killed by their own magic - mostly through the wall or being massively drained through large spells - then have been killed by war
but also. it's (supposedly) so rare for lucis caelum's to have more than two children
and the royal line is trained since birth to use their magic because magic can respond to strong emotions and toddlers with no training lead to things on fire or broken
it's not really something he'd even think about so he doesn't know
regis is also a smart man who is well studied in magic and has his own son and the family warnings to always start them training as young as possible, get the magic under control, you can use your magic to calm your childs when it goes out of control - he has all of that ringing in his head and he's a smart man and he could probably figure it out
so he doesn't not know
it's just. not really something he considers until the son he didn't know about is in front of him, repeatedly harmed by his own magic, and regis realises that maybe the reason there's no known lucis caelum bastards isn't because of fertility issues or people not wanting to deal with the name but instead...
like you said, thoughtlessness isn't great
so yeah. even the people of galahd who don't particuraly care about nyx care about that fact that regis is either purposefully or thoughtlessly endangering his own people and his people's children
that could be any child from across lucis, could be any child of any of their clans, their own child torn apart from the inside out because the king was a young idiot once but now he refuses to think
and yeah they're angry about it
even nyx is, sometimes

Partial Dossier #07 :: House Viridis
Tumblr media
VOX INTELLIGENCE BUREAU HOUSE VIRIDIS
REPORT FROM PAX VOX
FFXV: Reimagined Table of Contents
<- Previous • Next ->
Tumblr media
House Viridis serves the Crown as the Heart of the King, and has for countless generations. Ever the chirurgeons, alchemists, soothsayers, healers, doctors, and surgeons to the Crown, House Viridis has proven time and time again an invaluable ally to the Crown and her people. This era of King Regis Lucis Caelum has seen the unfortunate passing of two of House Viridis’ members: Aulea and Aurae Viridis, leaving their brother, Arbor Viridis, the head of the House and current Heart of the King.
Experienced in the way of the magical arts, House Viridis has expanded their spells over countless generations. Masters of curative and restorative spells, House Viridis is generally the second priority to protect after the Crown itself. Though they have no claim in being able to cure or remove the effects of the Starscourge, House Viridis has shown their capabilities in doing enough to stave off the pain and keep it at bay -- is it this that kept the young Prince Noctis with us until such a time came that he was able to be partially cured by Queen Oracle Sylva herself.
A heart wreathed by roses is the crest of House Viridis, symbolizing that even amidst a bed of thorns, they will pull through and serve the Crown to the best of their ability. Ever is it House Viridis’ duty to ensure the health and prosperity of the Crown, as their House's words of service go.
With the losses of House Viridis, one can only hope the Crown will not lose them as a whole. At this time, it seems like special care and attention is being given to the future Heart of the King, Ros Viridis, in order to ensure he is capable of being Noctis’ ever beating Heart.

Finally, they landed in Lucis. Obi-Wan barely waited for the ship to open properly, before jumping out and dashing off, to search for the royal family. She had never been to this city before, but seeing the impressive citadel destroyed made her heart sink. The King, Regis Lucis Caelum, had reported an attack and begged the Jedi for help with desperation. When the Council informed her, Obi-Wan and her battalion, already in space, had changed course to Eos immediately.
The King had a son, that was common knowledge. He was young, a frightened child amidst this terror. Strange monsters attacked anything they saw. Obi-Wan had no time to muse about what they were. She sliced them apart with her lightsaber and fought her way inside the citadel.
The Force was screaming with the fear and terror of the citizens, but that wasn't all. There was something else, someone else. Someone Force-sensitive and very powerful, but it was unfiltered, raw.
She then rounded a corner and spotted a boy. He was the one strong in the Force. Whether the Order was already aware of him, Obi-Wan didn't know. Judging by a picture she had seen of Regis, this must be his son. "...Prince Noctis? I'm Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi. I'm here to help. Please, tell me what happened."

Terror. Madness. Grief. It flashed all through Regis head when they got safely back to Insomnia. Poor Noctis cried the whole time for Luna. Luna and Ravus, he left them in their enemies hands. He sweard to Sylva, that he will get them back. Niflheim would pay for their crimes ! After leaving exhausted Noctis in hands of his caretakers, Regis went alone to the Crystal chamber. To have a word with his ancestors who silently observed their lifes.
--
Regis ordered everyone to leave. No one understand why, yet who they were to questioned the king´s decision. After that the chamber became cold, it felt even hostile to be alone there with Crystal. Regis  without any pretensions summoned the power of the ring after more than eight years since he lost her, love of his life. He yearned for his Queen so much, for her soothing touch, her breathtaking smile and a raucous laugh. Those joyful memories still hurted when he though about her. You left us too soon, my love.
--
The kings and queens of Yore showed themselves before the current king. The time itself froze in the moment. A powerful magic was unleashed and Crystal reacted.
“ Why did you called upon us, child?” said the Founder king strictly on his massive throne. Regis felt so insignificant in their presence.
Drained Regis spoke to him as politely as he could. “"I wish to speak to my dear wife. She should be here among you as rightful ruler of Insomnia.” He stood there in anticipation, but no one showed up. The kings and queens were silent, until the Rogue queen took pity on him and said. “Young king, her soul is not here among us.”  Regis was shocked. “ Then where is soul of my beloved?”
“ What an insolence, to think a mere mortal could be in our ranks.” the Warrior king said offended, many of the attendees agreeing with him.
Regis narrowed his eyes at the old king. “ Let me remind you o mighty king, that you all were once mortals like myself. And you especifically should know, what it is to lose your loved one.”  One by one Regis looked around and exclaimed coldly. “ I ask you once again rulers of Yore, where is my wife?”  Yet again no answer was given to Regis.
“Perhaps, I can give you the answer, your highness.” a woman emerged out of nowhere before Regis. He fastly drew his sword in defense. The woman came closer unarmed, as Regis noticed. She looked very young perhaps in her early twenties. “ You can´t expect answer from those who Bahamut chained to do his biding, my lord.”The woman looked at him with regret.” A cursed line of Lucis Caelum, to never know rest. You were ripped from my lady´s hands, when she wanted to bestow blessing upon your bloodline, your highness.”  Regis was wary of her, yet something in him told him to listen to this child. “ If only I was stronger, then I could ripped Bahamut apart for his treachery.” the woman clenched her hand into a fist,” Your highness, you want answers that I can give you, my only condition is that you listen to what I have to say.”  Regis briefly thought about it, he didn´t see  harm in it.
“Let´s say young one, that I would accept this proposal. But first tell me, who are you and about what lady you spoke of to?”  curiosite got better of him.
The woman bowed deeply. “ Hope your highness will pardon my rudeness. I am here on behalf my lady, Etro. And as for me, I am her humble servant Andrea, but perhaps  you will be more familiar with a name  Leo.”  mischievous smile played on her full lips. Regis froze in place upon hearing that name. He remembered the ancient books, in his youth, that told about that name: Leo the beast of Etro´s gate and guardian of dead.

Born to King Regis Lucis Caelum and his late wife Aulea, Noctis was always going to be a target. With nations at war, killing the heir to the throne would be almost as devastating a blow as killing the King. To Regis himself, of course, it would be so much worse.
The daemon attack had been too precise to have been random. It had known precisely which car in the convoy to target and had killed everyone in its path to the young Prince. A slice of a blade to his lower back and the boy was sent sprawling to the ground in a pool of blood.
Not all of it was his.
Just as the monster was about to finish the job, it let out a roar of pain and staggered backwards. The last thing Noctis saw before passing out was his father in all his glory, pushing it back with everything he had. It hadn't been enough to keep his son from slipping into an unwaking sleep though.
The boy awoke with a start, panic coursing through his body as he clumsily scooted backwards. There was no monster though. His father was nowhere to be seen and it was much darker than before. There were trees, lots of them. It was...spooky.
"Huh...where am I...Dad? "

As soon as he put the boxes down, he had to blink. The bed was perfectly expected, but the second bed was certainly not. Nor was the blonde sitting right in front of the placed box. “Um, what are you doing in here?” Noctis blurted out. The blonde frowned and pulled his legs closer to his body. “What? Sitting in my room? Looking over my schedule?” “This can’t be right. I asked for a single this year.” Scoffing, the other young man shook his head. “Dude, do you not check your email during the summer? I’ve known I’ve had a roommate for over a month.”

the  stars  —  the  moon ,       they  have  all  been  blown  out .
the  northern  territories  of  storm  were  divided  into  two  kingdoms:  the  kingdom  of  lucis  and  home  to  its  mothercrystal,  drake's  eye,  and  the imperial  province  of  niflheim.   wartime  long  divided  the  two  nations  since  days  of  old,   with  niflheim  overextending  their  territories  in  chase  of  the  raw  power  of  drake's  eye  to  claim  as  their  own.   in  the  year  860,   invasion  attempts  came  to  a  head  when  the  crown's  entourage  was  ambushed  and  slaughtered  in  an  attack  orchestrated  by  the  empire.   young  noctis  was  struck  down,  and  in  doing  so,  eruptions  of  blighted  lands  sprang  forth  around  them  and  blackened  the  north  in  dust.

in  the  aftermath,  regis  clutched  his  dying  boy  in  his  arms  and  rode  hard  for  the  the  walls  of  the  crown  city,   still  yet  untouched  by  chance  or  destiny.   there,   noctis  was  offered  aid  and  saved  by  the  divine  will  of  the  crystal  he  was  set  to  protect,   by  inhabiting  it  himself.   the  kingdoms  of  the  north  were  forced  into  their  strongholds,  blighted  territory  pushing  back  against  the  reaches  of  those  who  would  choose  to  conquer.   with  trade  and  supply  routes  diminished,  each  kingdom  eventually  fell  to  ruin  at  the  price  of  their  own  hubris,  and  drake's  eye  itself  lost  to  the  frozen  wastelands  of  angelgard  island.
currently  :   the  north  sits  a  shell  of  its  former  grandeur,  and  its  once  noble  houses  dispersed  into  ambiguity  across  valisthea.   texts  state  that  all  traces  of  the  royal  line  died  with  the  disappearance  of  their  crystal,  though  confirmation  was  never  documented  firsthand.   in  truth:   noctis  lives  in  spite  of  his  injuries,   though  forever  burdened  by  their  effect.
transference  of  the  crystal's  power  into  noctis  led  him  to  fall  into  slumber  for  13  long  years,   shielded  from  the  blight  by  his  own  charge  and  defended  from  the  ruination  his  home  faced.   upon  waking,   the  land  he  had  known  for  years  scarcely  resembled  what  he'd  left  it,   most  notably  :  regis.   who  had  stayed  by  his  son's  side  until  the  blight  took  him  too.   in  the  year  873,   long - thought  dead joshua  rosfield  discovered  the  ruined  city  of  lucis,  and  their  prince  along  with  it.

                                            notable locations:
lucis:   the  line  of  lucis  and  drake's  eye  have  been  interconnected  since  the  dawn  of  valisthea.   believed  to  be  a  holy  connection  to  the  eikons,   lucian  kings  swore  their  lives  and  legacies  to  protecting  and  serving  the  crystal.
niflheim:   an  empire  of  innovation,   fortified  by  their  prowess  in  ancient  technology  known  as  magitek,  and  the  beasts  created  in  turn,  dubbed  eikonoklastes.   their  hungering  search  for  power  and  dominion  over  drake's  eye  has  unfolded  into  century-long  riffs  between  the  two  nations.
the  kings  meet:   hallowed  ground  located  between  the  two  kingdoms.   used  almost  exclusively  during  wartime  and  border  skirmishes  as  a  sanctuary  for  peacetime  treaty  signings.   no  violence  or  bloodshed  was  permitted,   and  disobedience  resulted  in  execution.   it  is  now  the  site  of  where  then  8  year  old  noctis  lucis  caelum  and  retinue  were  ambushed  by  the  beast  marilith,  set  forth  by  niflheim  as  a  first  step  of  their  coup  for  the  lucian  capitol  and  its  crystal.   noctis  was  gravely  injured  and  presumed  dead,  though  before  niflheim  could  strike  the  final  blow  the  blight  ravaged  across  all  of  the  northern  territories.
tenebrae:   after  the  events  at  the  kingsmeet,   tenebrae  was  invaded  and  brought  under  imperial  rule  in  attempts  to  squander  and  locate  the  leviathan  dominant  who  had  been  born  into  the  nox  fleuret  bloodline  for  generations.
                                         additional information:
1.   )     noctis'  connection  to  the  crystal  kickstarted  the  blight  as  a  defense  mechanism  after  the  attempt  on  his  life.  it is  largely  believed  that  the  lucian  line  was  wiped  out  in  the  process,   though  remains  to  be  seen firsthand...
2.   )     elwin  and  regis  were  boyhood  friends.   raised  in   neighboring  kingdoms  with  healthy  relations  forged  a  hearty  bond  between  the  two,   and  when  the  time  came  where  they  both  bore  sons,   king  and  archduke  made  haste  to  entangle  them  in  each  others  lives.
3.   )     houses  scientia  and  amicitia  remained  at  the  king's  side  until  his  own  insistence  that  they  retreat  to  kinder  territories.   their  legacies  grew  under  newly - established  imperial  rule  after  retreating  into  rosalith,  yet  finding  it  succeeded  by  sanbreque.

The Children of Mors Lucis Caelum
This is literally the bare bones of a headcanon, so bare with me.
- Mors and his wife, Glacies, were an arranged marriage, on account of her having a rather impressive dowry. It’s not like the Lucis Caelum’s vaults or the treasury were in dire straits, but Mors’ father probably operated on the ideology that more money was good.
- They were married young, like…around 16/17. Bare minimum age of consent. Probably around early to mid M.E 693. (Mors had to get his dodgy set of morals from someone-).
(Mors was born somewhere around M.E 677, which would have made him about…fifty two, if my math is right, when he died in 729).
- fighting a war, after all, took money and material.
- Hopes were that the conception and birth of a royal child would improve moral of the people and crownsguards, while also securing the throne and the future of Lucis.
- Unfortunately, Because of the LC Magic and curse, she didn’t conceive a child. Though it wasn’t for lack of trying on either end, even if both Mors and Glacies had little to know feeling for each other.
- by the first six months, rumors were spreading the queen was infertile (though no one publicly talked shit like that about Mors or the LC’s). Magazines and newspapers were filled with the gossip and drama of the royal courts and upper society.
- By the end of the year, and over the course of the next one, Mors was pestered on perhaps choosing a harem. His father and grandfather hadn’t had a harem, but his great-grandfather and those before him had chosen to have them.
- (more than once, Mors was approached by more than a few ladies, either approaching for their own goals or pressured by their families).
By M.E 695, Mors did have a harem consisting of two women - Ver and Aestas. Both bloodlines were known to be large, twins and even triplets running in family tradition.
Between the two of them, Mors would sire seven children - three boys, and four daughters.
GENERAL TIMELINE:
M.E. 696 - Princess Gratia Lucis Caelum is born. Her mother is Ver.
M.E 697 - Princess Lacrimosa Lucis Caelum is born. Her mother is Aestas.
M.E 700 - Prince Rex Lucis Caelum is born to Ver.
- Several months later, Aestas would deliver twin boys - Prince Fortis Lucis Caelum and Prince Amare Lucis Caelum.
M.E 702 - Princess Orandi Lucis Caelum is born.
M.E 705 - Prince Sanus Lucis Caelum is born.
—————
Prior to Glacies finally conceiving after thirteen long years, when it was looking as though she truly would never have children, Mors intended to name Rex as his heir.
Despite several women in his lineage having held long and successful reigns over Lucis, he held to the strong belief (as many did, even in the wake of The Rogue, The Just, The Oracle -) that a man was best suited to running the nation.
Which is the reason why Rex was given his name.
However, that was before Glacies got pregnant. By law, and by expectation of the court, the line of Lucis didn’t always favor the eldest child or (by preference of the ruler) the firstborn daughter or son.
Even if a concubine birthed/sired a royal child prior to the Queen or King, the child of the LC and their first spouse - their partner in ruling the state - would be the expected heir apparent.
Depending on the verses:
M.E 706 - Prince Regis Lucis Caelum | Princess Regina Lucis Caelum is born.
A fourth son, a fifth daughter (depending on the verse).
People rejoiced, in the courts and the streets. It had been a long…very, very long time since the royal family had been so big.
But, as I mentioned in the previous post (or I should’ve, at least) - it’s not often a Lucis Caelum survives to adulthood. Even in “good” generations, like this one.
Each Lucis Caelum receives an epithet, by the age of sixteen - the original age of adulthood in Lucis - bestowed upon them by both the Crystal, the Kings of Yore, and the Draconian.
The cause and times of the children’s death vary from verse to verse. Sometimes they are stillborn, or miscarried, or die later in life.
The below is a general headcanon of how Regis | Regina’s older siblings would die after receiving their epithet, between the ages of sixteen and twenty-six, leaving just them to inherit the throne.
THE EPITHETS | THE DEATHS:
(This is a general estimation of their ages at their time of death in late teens/early adulthood since I haven’t given them birthdays or anything yet)
Gratia, The Graceful (17) - (M.E 696 - M.E. 713):
- During her lifetime (in worlds where she doesn’t die as a baby or young child), Gratia was adored as the first child of the Royal Family - she was a role model for young ladies everywhere.
- Unfortunately, as is the case with anyone in the public eye - and especially royalty - that also meant more unsavory people looked to her too. As something to use as a bargaining chip, something to hate and kill, and something to obsess over.
- If any of you have heard of Princess Anne’s kidnapping from 1974, Gratia’s death was similar situation gone horribly wrong.
- After visiting a hospital filled with wounded crowns guard one night, while driving back to the citadel, Gratia’s car was overtaken by another one.
- However, the driver didn’t intend to take her for ransom. Driving just in front of the car and to the side, they open fired at Gratia’s car with a pistol.
- At the time, members of the royal family traveled in very similar cars. Black, with the royal insignia across the hood and on the wheels.
- The assailant, mistaking Gratia’s car for that of King Mors’, was attempting to murder the king. Instead, Gratia’s chauffeur was killed first - a bullet to the throat, followed by the head.
- His body slumped over, and in seconds, the royal vehicle swerved and went out of control.
- It veered into the car of the attacker, before turning and skidding over the pavement, finally flipping over before it came to rest at the street curb.
- Gratia survived the initial impact, and was even able to free herself from the car. But she would later bleed out in the hands of citizens trying to treat her injuries while paramedics arrived.
- The man would be arrested, and later executed for the Princess’ death.
- Cause of Death: Car Crash / Murder
Lacrimosa, The Victorious (18) - (M.E 697 - M.E 715):
- Lacrimosa and Rex are the least fleshed out, death wise. But generally, unlike Mors, his children are pretty family oriented. So, if the rest of their brothers/sisters are in danger, they’ll try and protect them first.
- Inspired by one of Luxroyalty’s headcanons, Lacrimosa died shielding her siblings from attackers via magic. Very advanced magics, that usually need something to focus it (like the ring).
- Maybe Niflheim sent people to Insomnia, or if they were outside the city (since it hadn’t been pulled back yet), attacked a previous somewhat safe area.
- If Regis was fighting the war at 19/20 during his road-trip, that makes me think that Mors would have had no compunction about making his “extra kids” (those that weren’t Rex/Regis, basically) fight for the war effort.
- So maybe Lacrimosa was an general, a commander of part of the crownsguard, and they were visiting the base she was stationed at. Said base, that would later be attacked.
- Nifelheim razes the base and Lucian soldiers to the grounds, and then immediately zeros in on the royal children. They die, the bloodline dies, and Lucis falls - basically.
- Lacrimosa tears through the enemy soldiers, even as her own men fall around her, and ends up burning up as a cost. It’s too much magic for a human body to handle, even a Lucis Caelum’s.
- Reinforcements arrive, just as she collapses. The base is declared temporarily lost as more Niflheim troops march on the area. (It would later be recovered and lost multiple times).
- Lacrimosa and her siblings are rushed to the capital, but nothing could be done for her. Her body ends up dissolving into ash and dust a few days later, in her bedroom.
- Had she been anyone else, she would have died long before they reached the citadel.
- Cause of Death: Sacrifice
Rex, The Honorable (18) - (M.E 700 - 718):
- Died from caring too much. Literally.
- At a charity event, someone in the audience collapsed. Rex and his (surviving) siblings broke protocol to see if they could help.
- It was a ploy. With the crowd off guard and making way for emergency services, and the royal family trying to get as close (as allowed) to render aid, the person who fainted got up and lunged for the nearest member of the family.
- It was Rex.
- He got stabbed. In the lung. Security rushed him to the nearest hospital, and he was put into surgery in a desperate bid to save his life - but ended up dying in the operation room.
- Cause of Death: Assasination
Fortis, The Gentle (17) - (M.E 700 - M.E 718)
- Similarly to his elder sister Gratia, Prince Fortis would die in a car accident - except this one really was just an accident.
- A driver lost consciousness at the wheel, losing control of their vehicle. Their car struck the Prince’s vehicle and killed the driver on impact. This led to a pile up in the streets of cars colliding and swerving to avoid collision.
- Fifteen people, including both that driver and Fortis, would die of their injuries.
- Cause of Death: Car Crash
Amare, The Amicable (25) - (M.E 700 - M.E 726)
- Following the reduction of the wall (a “soft end” to the war with Niflheim), many people were angry with King Mors. A group of people, angry at the crown, set bombs off within the confines of the citadel.
- The bombs were intended to make a statement, to cause a small amount of harm, unrest - but what happened was far beyond what had been intended. the bombs far too powerful.
- Within the lobby of the citadel, preparing with the rest of the royal family for a press release on the front steps of their home, stepping outside, both Prince Amare and Princess Orandi were caught in the immediate blast radius of the bombs.
- Both were believed to be killed upon explosion, though it was later discovered that only Amare had died upon detonation, shielding his younger sibling, as the rest of the (now very small) family was barely pulled to safety.
- Amare’s left leg shredded and broken beyond repair, one of his arms broken from the fall, and his skull fractured.
- Cause of Death: Citadel Bombing of 726.
Orandi, The Charming (24) - (M.E 702 - M.E 726):
- After Prince Amare shielded her from the vast majority of the bomb’s damage, Princess Orandi was sent flying through the air with debris.
- Though the Citadel itself remained standing tall, the facade was badly damaged. Orandi would be struck on the back of the head by a large piece of broken stone, as well as pinned under the half-crushed remains of her brother.
- When found, she was seemingly conscious, blinking, but remained otherwise unresponsive, possibly out of shock, before losing consciousness due to her injuries.
- The Princess would slip into a coma on account of massive internal hemorrhaging and swelling in the brain, and later be taken off life support a month later.
- Cause of Death: Citadel Bombing of 726.
Sanus, The Diligent (16) - (M.E 705 - M.E 721):
- shortly after his sixteenth birthday, and the announcing of his epithet, Sanus grew very sick. At first, it was just a cough, and just feeling unwell - like with a cold.
- But the cough worsened, growing wet and rough, until he was struggling to breath properly. Within a week, he was put on oxygen, his body unable to get the air he needed on its own.
- the symptoms pointed to bronchitis, which later developed into a severe case of pneumonia. However, treatments offered by doctors remained ineffective in battling the Prince’s illness.
- Within another week, Sanus was dead. Officially, it was announced that he had succumbed to a severe case of pneumonia.
- A year later, however, Queen Glacies also got sick with similar symptoms to Sanus. Everything was poured into her treatment, her food and drink and blood tested to see why the illness was so severe.
- Poison was the answer. The would-be assassin was caught and, per the King’s orders, publicly executed. The Queen herself survived, but was greatly weakened and would never quite recover her previous health.
- Considering the Queen’s similar symptoms to Sanus’ death, rumors began to spread widely that Sanus had also been poisoned to death. But they were never confirmed, and Sanus’ body was not exhumed for testing.
- Pneumonia, possible Assasination

General Info
Name:  Solanna Lucis Caelum Nickname: Sol, Anna, Princess, Brat Gender: Female (She/Her) Race: Luciean Age: 18
Appearance
Tumblr media
Time Period
Main story is set anytime during the anime Final Fantasy XV: Brotherhood, the main game itself, and all DLC.  If you want a more indepth story for how I created her, feel free to look under the cut. She’s much more fleshed out than any of the other characters, but I also took her info from a solo blog I had made for her a while ago.  Up for AU’s, bringing her to other shows, or making a new world in general.
Verses
Main - This will follow along with the FFXV game, though under the change that Noctis had a younger sister.
Below is a MUCH more detailed bio for her. This is my baby, and as Noctis’ sister, I wanted her to be as fleshed out as herself.
SEXUALITY: Bisexual and Biromantic ORIGIN: Lucian born and raised CURRENT LOCATION: Unknown, but it is rumored Lestallum NATIONALITY: Insomnian ETHNICITY: Mixed (Caucasian and Mexican) SPOKEN LANGUAGES: Galahdi (brokenly), Lucian (Latin in lore? English in RPs), and bits of Accordon, and Tenebrae. RELIGION: The main god that Solanna prays to is Bahamut because of the tie to her family, and Shiva because of her own beliefs. HEIGHT: 5′4 BODY TYPE: Slender, but muscled. When Insomnia fell, she had already been going through the same training her brother had been, but since she has worked twice as hard to make sure she could take care of herself. EYES: Blue TATTOOS: None, though she has always been interested in getting one. PIERCINGS: Earlobes and belly-button. SOCIAL MEDIA: Of course, she’s a young adult that wants to be kept up on news of the world that has slowly been falling apart. SMOKING: Occasionally DRINKING: Occasionally. DRUGS: Nope ATHLETICS: Solanna has always been a fan of training, unlike Noctis. While she didn’t exceed as well at first, she worked hard to get her stamina up, and to become a better fighter like the rest in her family. She is also particularly fond of swimming. HOBBIES: She loves listening to music and playing games, just like her brother did - something she picked up from the man, of course. When she has enough down time, she is also quite fond of drawing. VIRGIN: It depends on the verse, but more than likely. Though she is a flirt and a tease. FAVORITE DRINK: Cherry Soda FAVORITE FOOD: Donuts FAVORITE MUSIC: Pop music. She likes something with a beat so she can sway to it in the car, or dance to it in her room. CLOTHING STYLE: When she lived in Insomnia, she tended to dress the typical way for royalty her age- flowing dresses for meetings and simple dress otherwise. Now, she tries to blend in more, though she does like clothing and hugs her body and shows her off somewhat. It goes along with her ‘flirty’ personality. UNDERWEAR TYPE: She is one of those girls that has matching bra and panties.
Background ( I added this as a place for her history)
Princess Solanna was born a year and a half after her brother, Noctis, was born. The doctors had been sure that Aulea wouldn’t have been able to carry her to term, not when they found out that the Queen was ill and couldn’t be cured. The Princess was born early, a month premature, when it became clear that her mother wouldn’t last much longer. As such, by the time her original due date came around, she was the daughter of a widowed father and the sister of the future king. Her life, other than Queen Aulae passing away soon after her birth, was actually pretty calm. She wasn’t there when her brother was attacked, and only got to spend a little bit of time in Tenebrea when he was there to recover, her father wanting her to stay at the Capital just in case. When the attack happened, while she didn’t understand, she did know that Regis would hold her closer - tighter - for a while after that. Once Noctis came back though, as good as before if not a little quiet, things went back to normal. She grew up training just as her brother, though she had to work twice as hard with certain things, like hand to hand combat. She did it, though, wanting to prove that she wasn’t weak, that she could take care of herself in the long run. Yet, she knew just like Noctis had Gladio to look after him, she would have Iris once they were both old enough to be titled as such. It was comforting, and it was something that Solanna relished in knowing, in getting to know her future Shield. They became good friends, bonding over their interested and teasing eachother about their crushes. It was when Insomnia fell that everything changed for her, her entire life twisting and turning. When Iris got out, Solanna get saved at the same time, though the news was kept from everyone but the ones that were there when she was taken out of the ruined city. Once they got to Lestallum, they tried to make the Princess blend in, not wanting word to get out that she had survived. At that moment, all the focuses needed to be on keeping her brother safe, and ending this war. Since then, she has been living as a civilian in public, listening to the news and doing what she can while staying hidden in her hotel room, to help where she can. She may not be able to broadcast who she was - not yet - but she was certainly going to use it to her advantage.

Adamantus (5/12)
Adamantus | saratogaroad rating: G+ total wordcount:  15,328 characters: Aulea Lucis Caelum, Regis Lucis Caelum, Noctis Lucis Caelum, Ardyn Lucis Caelum relationships: Aulea/Regis, Aulea & Noctis other tags: Mother-Son Relationship, Character Death, Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence warnings: Character Death Starts The Plot
When Noctis is three years old, Regis takes ill. The doctor tells her that he will recover, that all will be well.
It isn't.
Aulea Lucis Caelum is left to raise a son on her own, knowing that a Kingdom depends on her strength and will to survive.
She will not lose him, too.
=
"Niflheim?" Aulea asks, eyebrows somewhere in her hairline, "Niflheim was behind the attack on the Citadel?"
"Yes, Majesty," Cor hands her another clipboard, pictures of half familiar faces clipped to arrest records. "Several staff members were found to have received Niflheim coin in exchange for opening service entrances or smuggling explosives to the upper levels." He shakes his head, lips curled in distaste. "We suspect they're after the Crystal."
"If Niflheim wants the damned thing so badly," She hisses, "Let them have it!" She smoothes out the wrinkles in her skirt with one hand, feeling a headache begin to take root as her Crownsguard pull on her magic for aid in holding back the monsters at the new wall that is still being built. "It's of no use to us anymore."
And better to let their blasted Emperor deal with the blighted Draconian still hiding in its core. They'd be a match made in the Beyond for certain.
"And in exchange?" Cor's calm voice pulls her back. She purses her lips, trying to remember that he didn't spend years fighting the Nifs alongside his brothers-in-arms to give up so quickly. She unclenches her fist from her skirts once more.
"Peace. Without them banging on our wall every five seconds."
"Niflheim will never give us peace, Majesty," Cor retorts as they sidestep a knot of children headed for a courtyard, ball in the hands of their leader. Her thoughts turn to Noctis, sequestered away with Nyx, Ignis, Gladiolus, and Nyx's young sister Selena. Children should not be locked away in rooms for their own safety. They should be free to play in the sun, to scrape their knees, to throw balls through windows. She shakes her head.
"They will have what they want," Aulea says, gathering her skirts into both hands as they take the stairs to the throne room. "And the Beyond take them should they break a deal. I'll draft a treaty tonight."
"As you will," Cor says dutifully. She can read the lines around his eyes, knows he hates this plan, and hates that she can't do anything about that. She must focus on her kingdom, on her people. They deserve better than to be trapped in the Citadel like this, packed in like fish in a can. She takes a breath, swallows her desire to apologize to his old wounds, and moves on.
"Where are we on finding out more about the Accursed?" She asks as they walk. Cor inclines his head with a grimace.
"Not as far as I'd like," he replies, "The Hunters have been seeking the Tombs and their archives with Cid and Weskham, but the books are old. All we know for certain is that King Izunia had a twin brother, but there is no record of him to be found in Leide."
Beside the first king and yet struck from the record. Aulea frowns, pensive. A death in early childhood, perhaps? Or a scandal in older years. The time of King Izunia Lucis Caelum was over two thousand years ago, in a time where the Old Wall was the city's first line of defense, when the Oracle actually communed with the Gods. There is no one left alive to ask, and though Shiva has granted them aid she does not trust the Goddess as far as she could be thrown.
Maybe Sylva will know more, she thinks to herself. Then she frowns deeper because Sylva has not answered her letters in months. If only the remaining network of communications towers had ever reached past the borders of Lucis. This would be simple if she could just call her friend.
"Majesty," one of her Crownsguard interrupts her thoughts as they come to the door to the throne room. The poor man looks harried, eyes lined with fatherly concern. She blinks. Is that...blood, on his otherwise pressed dress shirt? "I'm very sorry, Majesty, but there is a young girl calling herself Lunafreya requesting an audience with you. She says she hails from Tenebrae, but--"
Cor gets the doors mere seconds before Aulea can knock them off their hinges. Elemancy sings beneath her skin, an instinctive defense of a child as she runs, her heels clicking on the marble beneath her as she takes the side door, stumbles past two of the unfilled Council chairs, and stares over the railing.
Months ago, Sylva had sent photographs of her children with a letter. They had spoken of someday, far in the future, joining their lines in matrimony. Ravus had a kind smile and a nose much like the late King Fleuret, but Lunafreya...
Even with blood splattered across her face, even with her body seemingly more bandage than princess, Lunafreya Nox Flueret looks almost exactly like her mother.
"Lunafreya!"
Pale blue eyes snap to her. Aulea runs for the stairs, drops the elemancy, and takes the steps three at a time. The nearer she draws, the worse Lunafreya appears. She is bloodstained and soot-caked, her pale blonde hair chopped short around her ears. Her eyes are lined with red, but even as her nine-year old body trembles, she tries to drop into a curtsy. Her knees almost give out; Aulea thanks Shiva she reaches the poor girl before she can drop. Lunafreya leans into Aulea's touch as the queen steadies her, hands upon her shoulders, with a hiss. She's cold as ice.
"Lunafreya," She says more calmly than she feels, "What happened to you? How did you get here?"
Lunafreya shakes her head, an age of wisdom in her baby-cheeked face. Etro, she's just a child! How has she made it across the sea, across the world, on her own? Where is Ravus, Sylva, her retinue? The thoughts turn spirals in Aulea's mind as Lunafreya gathers the strength to speak. When she draws breath next, Aulea can hear it rasp.
"Tenebrae has fallen," She says in a voice that still rings across the throne room despite the rawness to it. She sways forward, body finally beginning to give in to exhaustion, but her eyes are clear. "Queen Sylva Nox Flueret is dead."
Aulea's heart stops.
"Niflheim has taken Tenebrae," Lunafreya says, her eyes on Aulea's, "And they march on Lucis next."
Then she collapses against Aulea's chest and goes still. Heart cleaving in two, Aulea scoops up the slip of a girl and turns around. Cor is halfway down the steps, close enough to have heard Lunafreya's words, and has gone pale. There is no denying what has to come next.
"Bolster the Wall," Aulea tells him as she takes the stairs up as fast as she can. Lunafreya needs help, a doctor, a miracle. She will not let this poor child die here. "And then prepare your finest for infiltration."
"To where," comes Cor's voice as she passes him, "Majesty?"
She turns, looks over her shoulder as she reaches the doorway.
"Niflheim. The time for deals has passed." She looks down at Lunafreya's face and knows, no matter what, there can be no turning back now. Perhaps there never was. "It is time we fight back."

Note
Ok, first, yeah I was talkin about the happy version of Phe Ulric - I read the one shot on ao3 and it wouldn't leave me alone. Thanks for the fic :D
Moving on to the angsty version, what do you think about the possibility that, once Cor bring the bby!Prompto to the Citadel, somebody realises that hmmm, Nifs experimented on the kid, better check carefully none of it will kill him.
Which would quite plausibly include DNA analysis, if they suspect some gene tampering was happening. Cue, the system raising the flags, because some of those sequences look very LC-like.
Congrats, Regis. You have a new relative, with some others possibly in the wild somewhere. (Whether it's Ardynson or Regisson Nyx is up to you)
you ah-
you realise this would be more angsty, right?
cos like- regis would probably raise prompto alongside noct, once they were sure that there wasn't any sorta hidden weapon shit about him. the media hears all about his distant cousin, orphaned young, poor boy, and the king- taking him in when he's newly widowed, a young son of his own, ruling... how good of king regis, their king is a good man
everyone knows that the boy likely doesn't have enough lucis caelum blood to have magic, after all, since the last relation to have children outside of the royal family was the rogue's youngest. but then, noctis will surely give his cousin magic when they grow, it means nothing. what a good protect young prompto will be
the world over hears of the new prince with his blond hair nd his blue eyes and his lucis caelum blood
the whole world hears it
and nyx-
nyx knows
how can he not? how can he not recognise that hair, those eyes, in the blurry newspaper photos? how could he not recognise his son? how could he not recognise the boy he failed?
nyx knows
his son is alive (he left him there). his son is alive (someone else saved him because nyx left him, he didn't find him, he left him in that hell). his son is safe (nyx didn't save him)
and his son, phe- no, prompto is being raised by a loving father, alongside a brother, and nyx-
nyx has the marks for dozens of unnamed children etched upon his chest. he has Ty and Cas and Pol and Alala and Phe written over his heart and he has failed all of these children
he failed them all and-
how could he ever tell prompto lucis caelum that? how could he ruin that boys life? how could he dare to try and make a space for himself when phe already has a father, now?
(he doesn't deserve it)
and why would they even believe him anyway?
nobody knows
nyx- he couldn't bring himself to tell anyone. so full of shame of hatred of grief. his mums, libs, lena - he knows they know something. they've seen the tattoos on his chest
they don't know
nobody needs to know
everything is better as it is. phe will be better as he is. the king of lucis can give him far more than nyx ever could
(he managed to give phe a life when nyx hadn't even been able to manage that)
it's better this way
(nyx has to believe it)

✎ - Your soulmate’s name is marked on your arm.
Regis Lucis Caelum.
He hated the mark on his arm. It had been there since he was a boy, and he had always known that his soulmate was one of the royal family. No one didn't know the Lucis Caelum name, after all. He'd been excited about it when he was young. And then King Mors pulled the wall back. That one selfish action saw the death of his whole family and the destruction of his home.
How could he blame Niflheim for taking it, when it was Mors who handed them Cavaugh on a silver platter?
Was his son, Titus' soulmate, any better?
He'd be the judge of that.
Titus had left the ruins of Cavaugh and gone to Insomnia, to join the Royal Guard. Shortly after Regis took the throne, Titus was inducted into the Guard. Whether the King was told who he was or not, he had no idea, or if he would even care. The first time he met Regis, he was in full uniform, his face covered as was usual for them, standing at attention as the young King surveyed him and the other new Gard members.
